Steel Will introduces flagship folding tactical knife
by Capt. Ted Lund
Few things are as important to soldiers, hunters, anglers, and other outdoorsmen as a good knife. It can be your best friend, a trusty tool, and even a lifesaver. That’s a bill that the new Bruiser 500 (MSRP $299.99) from Steel Will is ready to fill.
The flagship folding knife from premium knife maker Steel Will Knives, the Bruiser 500 radiates a tactical look and feel from tip to pommel. Although it was designed as a rugged military folder, this large overbuilt folder is equally capable of tackling the most demanding outdoor tasks. Folded, the knife is 5½inches long, and 9½ inches long when fully deployed.
The Bruiser 500 deploys quickly and smoothly using its flipper, which extends the finger guard in the open position and improves operating safety. The knife locks firmly into place with a secure liner lock.
It’s 4-inch-long blade is crafted from K110 steel, a cold-work steel from Austria. Known for its dimensional stability, K110 is a high carbon, high-chromium (12-percent) steel known for its exceptional strength and durability. Despite its high-carbon content, K110 doesn’t corrode and isn’t easily oxidized. Steel Will’s proprietary PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) Coating increases the K110 blade’s resistance to wear and corrosion.
Integral to the Bruiser 500’s aggressive, tactical look is a 3D machine-milled G10 epoxy- composite, handle that provides a comfortable, firm grip — even in wet conditions. This knife’s size and its unique grid pattern handle makes it perfect for use with gloves. The pommel features a rounded, removable glass breaker that is machined from hardened steel.
The Bruiser 500 is equipped with a customizable clip that may attach at four points for right- or left-handed users as well as tip-up or tip-down orientation. The included durable nylon holster expands storage options even more.
Steel Will creates the world’s best knives by seeking out and using the finest time-tested metals and materials from around the world including Japan, Austria and America. Each and every knife achieves the distinct properties for which it was designed and is produced with scrupulous attention to detail and design. All Steel Will knives are backed by a non-transferable life-time warranty.
Steel Will is constantly searching for new ideas to revolutionize its products — striving to stay on the cutting edge of knifemaking. For more information, visit www.steelwillknives.com or follow them at www.facebook.com/steelwillknives.
