Sue Dempsey is Exchange Club of Indian River’s Exchangite of the Year


Outgoing Exchange Club of Indian River President David Walker named Sue Dempsey Exchangite of the Year at the club’s annual banquet held at Quilted Giraffe on June 26.

Exchange Club of Indian River President David Walker presented Sue Dempsey the club’s Exchangite of the Year Award.

This award recognizes an outstanding member who provides exemplary volunteer service to the organization over time. Dempsey was honored for her years of loyal service to the club as treasurer, board member, and faithful volunteer. She is a certified public accountant with Marllyn Justice CPA PA of Vero Beach.

Christopher Pensch was installed as the 2015-2016 president of the club by former Florida District Exchange President Diana Walker. Other officers installed include President-Elect Joan Barcus, Secretary Jennifer Frederick, Treasurer Sue Dempsey, Immediate Past President David Walker, and Directors Nancy Gollnick, Brian Hayes, Marni Howder, Melinda McKee, Barbara Parent, and Jon Rose. Outgoing directors Mark Ashdown and Angela Astrup were also honored for their service.

Exchange Club of Indian River has provided the community with programs in youth activities, service, and Americanism since 1973. It is affiliated with America’s service club, the National Exchange Club. Members meet for lunch at Culinary Capers each Wednesday at noon. Meetings feature programs on a wide range of business, government and civic, charity, personal, and professional topics. The foundation’s next major event is Black & White Masquerade – Let’s Have a Ball! to be held Saturday, October 24, 2015, at the Vero Beach Country Club. The club is also a partner in the Vero Beach Air Show, starring the United States Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron – the Blue Angels, coming June 25-26, 2016 – to the Vero Beach Airport.
